THE empowerment of talent in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics will take centre stage in today’s Dewan Rakyat proceedings, as MPs seek to ensure Malaysia keeps pace with global innovation trends.

Datuk Larry Soon (PBM–Julau) is set to question the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation on efforts to cultivate and elevate local expertise in these advanced fields, with the goal of earning recognition on par with established professions such as engineering and medicine.

Meanwhile, Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) will direct a question to the Prime Minister regarding strategies to further develop the Borneo Arts Festival (BAF) under the Brunei–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP–EAGA) tourism cluster.

He is expected to highlight the festival’s potential to deliver long-term economic and cultural benefits for the Labuan community.

In another query, Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PN–Dungun) will ask the Minister of Communications about the effectiveness of initiatives such as the National Month celebrations and the Kibar Jalur Gemilang campaign in fostering unity and patriotism among Malaysians of all races and faiths.

After the Question Time session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed to the committee-stage debate of the 2026 Supply Bill (Budget).

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to sit for 35 days, concluding on 4 December. - November 6, 2025
