THE Health Ministry today cautioned that the haze remains a serious health threat which must be given immediate attention.
MOH said continued exposure to polluted air can jeopardise one's health, especially for those in the high-risk group such as children, the aged, pregnant women and those with breathing and heart problems.
"In view of this, everyone must take necessary precautionary steps and follow the instructions from the relevant authorities based on the API readings to safeguard their health.
"MOH wishes to stress that all government agencies, private sector, educational institutions and food handlers must strictly follow these instructions," it said in a statement.
For API readings between 0-100 (Good to Moderate), daily activities can proceed as normal; 101-200 (Unhealthy), people are advised to reduce outdoor activities.
Co-curricular and outdoor physical activities at all educational institutions, kindergartens and elderly care homes must be stopped.
"Employers must prepare N95 face masks for their outdoor staff and the public is urged to use the N96 facemask when outdoors," it said.
For API readings above 200, which is dangerous, the MOH said all outdoor activities and public gatherings must be stopped.
All educational institutions, kindergartens and schools must be closed.
The MOH urged all parties to ensure these instructions are followed consistently and responsibly. – October 17, 2026
