A HAIRDRESSER was forcibly stripped and filmed in a shopping mall toilet by three men believed to be agents of an unlicensed money lending operation, police confirmed.

The victim, Danish, 34, said the incident occurred last Saturday after he was contacted by the loan company. During a press conference on Tuesday, he described being threatened with a knife and forced into a restroom.

“They took me to the toilet and made me remove my shirt and trousers, while one of them recorded the incident. Out of fear of being hurt, I followed their instructions,” Danish said.

He added that the men threatened to cut off his limbs if he did not comply and also seized his personal belongings, including his phone. “The video they recorded was then circulated in all my WhatsApp groups, including work groups,” he said.

The incident followed a loan of RM1,000 from the unlicensed company, which Danish discovered on social media. He claimed he only received RM500 after processing fees, with a repayment period of just a few days and hourly late fees of RM450 if deadlines were missed.

“I already paid, and I have receipts, but they demanded more money. They asked for RM1,200 and recently up to RM10,000,” Danish said. “I regret borrowing from them, but I was in an emergency situation.”

Danish also alleged that the men harassed his parents, reportedly making up to 200 calls, and said the dissemination of the video had caused public humiliation, including censure from acquaintances and some family members.

Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim, Secretary-General of the Malaysian Humanitarian Organisation (MHO), condemned the attack and urged friends and family to provide moral support. “In a state of undress, the victim was filmed and photographed, and his phone and bag were taken. The effects have been devastating, with the victim shamed among colleagues, relatives and acquaintances,” he said.

He called for swift and decisive action by authorities against those responsible for the assault. - November 12, 2025
