THE homeless man who was sprayed with water and kicked outside a bank in Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur yesterday is now in a shelter home, thanks to efforts by Uncle Tony from Food4U.
In a social media posting, it was revealed that Uncle Tony had seen the viral video of the man being subject to the humiliating treatment and had set out to look for him.
"I found the man after half an hour outside the Public Bank in Taman Maluri.
"He had lost his job as a waiter and was homeless. I offered him a safe haven where he will have a roof over his head with food and medical care," he said.
"Uncle Tony" refers to Tony Lian, the founder of Food4U, a charitable organization in Kuala Lumpur that provides food, health support, and hope to the homeless and less fortunate.
Uncle Tony said he could see the pain in the man's eyes and he cried while being taken to The Sanctuary 1 home.
"I thank the person who posted the video. In doing so, he saved a life. It is inhumane and deplorable for any person to ill treat a homeless person.
"It's even worst when the homeless person is subjected to physical beating and degradable action by pouring water while he is asleep," said Uncle Tony.
A video of a female security guard and a man, believed to be a cobbler ill-treating the homeless man went viral yesterday.
The man was sleeping outside an Ambank branch when the incident occurred.
The bank had also since issued an apology and said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident, and that no individual deserved to be treated in such a manner. - November 26, 2025
