THE Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a notice this morning, stating that a moderate earthquake struck Halmahera, Indonesia at 8:44 a.m.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 1.7°N, 127.2°E, about 99 kilometres north of Ternate, Indonesia, with a focal depth of 119 kilometres.

The Meteorological Department stated that the earthquake does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, and there is no cause for concern. – December 6, 2025
