PERLIS Mufti Datuk Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, has voiced concerns over what he describes as a deviant movement originating from South Korea that purportedly exploits the name of Jesus to advance unorthodox teachings.

In a public statement shared on his Facebook page, Dr. Mohd Asri said the group has been active in Malaysia under the guise of promoting peace and unity.

“This movement is active in Malaysia in the name of peace and harmony, but is oriented toward its deviant teachings,”he said.

According to him, a detailed briefing on the sect was presented during a recent Perlis State Fatwa Committee meeting.

He noted that mainstream Christian organisations have reportedly rejected the group’s beliefs and methods.

Allegations of Political Figures’ Involvement

Better known as Dr Maza, the Islamic scholar further claimed that several influential Malaysians, including Muslim Members of Parliament, have participated in activities linked to the organisation.

He alleged that images of these figures engaging with the movement have circulated publicly over the years.

Without naming any individuals, he urged those implicated to clarify their involvement to avoid public misunderstanding.

He cautioned that such associations could lead to broader concerns among the community and called for vigilance against teachings that contradict established religious guidance. – December 8, 2025
