AN unemployed man was charged in the Tanah Merah Magistrate's Court today with the murder of his wife at their home in Kampung Paku, Gual Ipoh last week.

The accused, Ibrahim Sulaiman, 63, only nodded in understanding after the charge was read out before Magistrate Tun Faez Fikhrie Tun Asrul Saini.

No plea was recorded from the accused as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court, reported Kosmo!.

According to the charge, the accused, who is a father of two children, is charged with murdering Mastura Abdullah, 40, at a house in Kampung Paku, Gual Ipoh between 9.30am and 12.15pm on December 1.

The man was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment for not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, if not sentenced to death, a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.

Prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Irfan Aizat Daud while the accused was not represented.

The court then set February 12 for the case to be mentioned again.

It was earlier reported that a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death out of jealousy after suspecting that she had a boyfriend since working as a cook at a canteen in Selangor.

In the incident on December 1, Mastura was found covered in blood in the kitchen of the house after being allegedly stabbed by her husband with a knife.

The victim's younger brother, Mohd. Jony Abdullah, 30, said that the suspect surrendered at the Gual Ipoh Police Station about two hours later after picking up his son from school.

Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd. Yusoff Mamat confirmed that the victim died after being stabbed twice in the back of her body.

“Investigations found that the victim had an argument with her husband before being stabbed with a knife.

“The incident occurred after the suspect, who was the victim’s husband, suspected that the woman had a lover,” he said. – December 10, 2025
