Tengku Zafrul: New MITI leadership seen as boosting Malaysia’s investment momentum
The world is moving at a rapid pace and MIDA stands ready to rise to the challenge in support of Malaysia’s investment and economic aspirations - December 25, 2025

THE Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) believes that alignment with the new leadership at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has given Malaysia fresh momentum to translate strategic aspirations into real economic impact.

MIDA chairman Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said he welcomed the appointment of Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, along with his deputy, Sim Tze Tzin, noting that their leadership comes at a critical juncture for the country’s investment agenda.

Shortly after their appointments, Johari and Sim made their first official visit to MIDA’s headquarters, underlining the new leadership’s emphasis on execution, delivery and measurable outcomes.

The visit focused on strengthening investment delivery through data-driven decision-making and achieving concrete economic results that directly benefit the people.

“With a clear direction and a shared commitment to implementation, MIDA will help ensure that every realised investment strengthens the people, industries and the nation’s future,” Tengku Zafrul said in a statement.

“The world is moving at a rapid pace and MIDA stands ready to rise to the challenge in support of Malaysia’s investment and economic aspirations,” he added.

MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim also welcomed the leadership transition, highlighting the combined strengths of Johari’s corporate experience and Sim’s technical expertise, complemented by Tengku Zafrul’s background and experience.

As Malaysia advances a high-impact investment framework, Sikh expressed confidence that the collective experience of the three leaders would reinforce momentum in the coming year and beyond.

“Through close alignment between the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and MIDA, Malaysia is well positioned to further enhance its reputation as a preferred destination for both global and domestic investors,” he said. - December 25, 2025
