A DOCTOR lost more than RM880,000 after being duped into investing in non-existent shares advertised on a Facebook page.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the 44-year-old man initially dealt with the suspect via the WhatsApp application and was included in a group known as Aura Wealth Navigation.

He said the victim was then offered an investment scheme known as TNB Aura, which promised returns of between 18 and 22 per cent, as well as profits of up to 500 per cent if the investment target for 24 types of shares was achieved, reported Bernama.

Attracted by the offer, starting from November 8, 2025 to January 7, the victim made 21 money transfer transactions into five different bank accounts registered in the names of several related companies using personal loans, Amanah Saham Bumiputera investments and Tabung Haji.

"The victim only received a one-time profit at the initial stage of the investment amounting to RM1,000 before failing to receive any subsequent returns as promised," he said in a statement today.

Yahaya said the victim, who realised that he had been cheated, lodged a report at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters yesterday, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. – January 12, 2026
