MALAYSIA Airlines and Firefly are offering one-way fare subsidies from Kuala Lumpur to selected destinations in Sabah and Sarawak in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations, between 13 and 16 February.
This move is to support the government's initiative in helping to ease travel costs, as well as ensuring wider access for the public.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) in a statement announced that Malaysia Airlines is offering fare subsidies of up to RM569 one-way, including all costs from Kuala Lumpur to destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Sandakan, Labuan, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu.
Meanwhile, Firefly is offering fare subsidies of up to RM548 one-way, including all costs from Kuala Lumpur to selected destinations, including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Kuching, and Sibu.
"These subsidised fares complement the expanded festive flight schedule, helping to ease travel costs while ensuring wider access to increased capacity and reliable connectivity during the Chinese New Year travel period.
"For travellers looking to travel abroad, the Global New Year campaign is still open until 20 January for travel until 30 November 2026.
"It offers all-inclusive return fares from RM159, with Enrich members enjoying an additional five per cent discount on promotional fares,” it said.
MAG said there will be over 2,400 flights during the upcoming Chinese New Year travel period, including up to 198 additional flights by Malaysia Airlines and Firefly to ensure more Malaysians can return home safely and smoothly during the festive season.
The festive flight schedule will operate during the Chinese New Year travel period between 11 to 23 February 2026, in line with MAG's proactive response to the high demand of the season celebrations, supported by enhanced capacity planning and reliable domestic connectivity.
It said the expanded operations will support key domestic homebound routes between Peninsular and East Malaysia, including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Sandakan.
"Overall, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will operate an expanded domestic network throughout the festive season, reinforcing MAG's role as a trusted connector for Malaysians during one of the busiest travel periods of the year," it said. – January 14, 2026
