KERETAPI Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering free travel for commuter services for two days in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebrations on January 31 and February 1.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the initiative cost nearly RM1 million.

"This initiative makes the Thaipusam celebration more meaningful, especially for Hindus.

"The free fare will start from 12 am to 11.59 pm on Feb 1, with a check-out mechanism through the automatic gate (ACG).

"So, for these two days, we expect full passenger capacity with an estimated 450,000 people to use the commuter service to commute to Batu Caves," he said. – January 20, 2026
