AN elderly woman in her 80s was seriously injured after she was allegedly stabbed in the neck by her daughter at a house in Kampung Segineh Inas, Johol, on Thursday evening.
The incident, reported at about 7pm, is understood to have involved a domestic altercation in which the suspect, a woman in her 50s, allegedly used a sharp object believed to be a can opener to attack her mother.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Mustafah Hussin confirmed that officers received a report regarding a stabbing involving family members at the village.
“Police confirm receiving a report in connection with a stabbing incident involving family members in Kampung Segineh Inas.
“Initial investigations found that at 7.08pm yesterday, police received information from a member of the public reporting a fight at a house.
“The suspect is alleged to have stabbed her own mother in the neck using a sharp weapon believed to be a can opener,” he said in a statement.
The victim was taken to Hospital Rembau for further treatment and is currently in stable condition under medical observation.
“The suspect is a woman in her 50s who is the biological daughter of the victim. The motive for the incident is still under investigation and there is a possibility that the suspect has mental health problems.
“The suspect has been detained under Section 326 of the Penal Code,” he said.
Section 326 relates to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
