HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is currently unwell due to musculoskeletal pain affecting his back and hip, Istana Negara confirmed today.
In a statement, the National Palace said His Majesty has been advised by medical specialists to rest and refrain from attending official engagements to allow for treatment and recovery.
“Due to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong undergoing follow-up treatment, His Majesty was unable to attend the breaking of fast ceremony with the Prime Minister, Members of the Cabinet, Heads of Foreign Missions and Senior Government Officials at Istana Negara, which took place the day before yesterday,” the statement read.
Istana Negara also announced that the official opening ceremony of the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque at the National Defence University of Malaysia, originally scheduled for the same day, has been postponed to a later date.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has expressed that His Majesty will resume official engagements once his health has improved,” Istana Negara added.
The palace did not indicate the expected duration of His Majesty’s recuperation but emphasised that the King is receiving appropriate medical care.
Prime Minister Offers Prayers for King Sultan Ibrahim’s Swift Recovery
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has conveyed his prayers for the continued health and well-being of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, following confirmation that His Majesty is undergoing medical treatment.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Anwar expressed his hope that the King would be granted enduring good health and remain under divine protection, mercy and guidance.
“Due to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong undergoing follow-up treatment, His Majesty was unable to attend the breaking of fast ceremony with the Prime Minister, Members of the Cabinet, Heads of Foreign Missions and Senior Government Officials at Istana Negara, which took place the day before yesterday,” the palace said in a statement.
Istana Negara also confirmed that the official opening ceremony of the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque at the National Defence University of Malaysia, scheduled for yesterday, has been postponed to a later date.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has decreed that His Majesty will resume official engagements once his health has improved,” the statement added.
