KUALA LUMPUR – A record 1,388 individuals have been arrested on New Year’s Day for failing to comply with health SOPs.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri ismail Sabri Yaakob said that 1,352 were issued compounds, 32 were remanded while four were released on police bail.

Some 632 were caught at pubs and nightclubs, 424 failed to observe physically distancing, 137 were not wearing face masks, 118 failed to provide equipment to take temperature while 86 were detained for other offences.

In the ongoing Ops Benteng, 95 undocumented migrants were detained.

Ismail Sabri said that 96,312 individuals returned to Malaysia since July 24 until yesterday and underwent mandatory quarantine at 76 hotels, and 16 public training institutions.

“Some 7,547 individuals are still undergoing quarantine, while 540 have been sent to the hospital for treatment. 88,225 individuals were allowed to return home.” – The Vibes, January 2, 2021
