A MECHANIC and his customer have captured widespread attention online after both parties repeatedly refused to keep a sum of around RM3,000 received through TikTok “gifts”, instead insisting that the money be channelled towards charity and assistance for those in need.
The incident involved a mechanic known as Abang Minyak Hitam, whose real name is Mohd Yusof Mohd Noor, and a customer identified as Dicky Yau.
The situation began when Dicky received TikTok “gift” earnings, which were estimated to total between RM5,000 and RM6,000, and he initially intended to share part of the proceeds as a charitable donation.
“This is the money I received, and I want to donate it back as charity.”,” Dicky said.
However, the exchange became emotional when Mohd Yusof refused to accept the money for himself and instead urged Dicky to keep it for his family, particularly for his children’s schooling expenses.
Mohd Yusof said he had no intention of benefiting personally from the funds, insisting that his priority was to help the customer manage his financial situation.
“This brother (Dicky) received a gift. It is estimated at around RM5,000 to RM6,000. He promised to give me half of the charity money.”
“But I don’t want to take it. I give this money back to this brother (Dicky) because his child needs to go to school. I return it as charity so he can continue his life. I am not taking advantage. My intention is simply to help sincerely,” he said.
The exchange reportedly became emotional as both men insisted on refusing the money, with Dicky visibly moved and in tears during the interaction.
The incident has since gone viral, with social media users praising both individuals for what they described as rare acts of sincerity and mutual compassion.
The pair had previously attracted public attention after another incident involving Dicky, when his motorcycle chain snapped and the sprocket was damaged while he was returning from work.
At the time, Dicky reportedly had only RM176 in his account, while the repair cost amounted to RM145.
Mohd Yusof refused payment for the repair, saying he understood the customer’s financial difficulties.
“You don’t need to pay. I know you are struggling. Consider this your sustenance. Today I help you, tomorrow God will help me,” he said.
The story has been widely shared online, with many users highlighting it as an example of enduring kindness and community spirit in everyday life. - April 22, 2026
