PAKATAN Harapan (PH) is set to hold its 2026 convention in Johor next month in a significant political gathering aimed at consolidating internal cohesion and charting the coalition’s strategic direction as Malaysia moves closer to the next general election cycle.

The one-day convention will take place on 17 May at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru under the theme “Madani Resolve, The People’s Hope” (“Tekad Madani, Harapan Rakyat”), with proceedings scheduled from 8am until 6pm.

The event is expected to bring together senior coalition leaders, party delegates and grassroots representatives in what PH describes as a renewed effort to strengthen organisational unity and reinforce confidence in the coalition’s leadership amid an increasingly dynamic political environment.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, coalition leaders said the convention would function as a central platform for political coordination and policy alignment while addressing pressing national issues facing the government and the electorate.

“PH remains focused on strengthening the national economy, maintaining political stability, and reinforcing public confidence in preparation for future state elections and the 16th General Election (GE16),” the statement said.

Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to attend the convention and deliver a keynote address outlining the coalition’s priorities and political outlook.

Other senior PH figures are also scheduled to participate in what party leaders described as a demonstration of solidarity and readiness ahead of future electoral contests.

The coalition noted that its last national convention was held in 2022, making this year’s gathering a symbolic revival of one of PH’s principal organisational platforms following its return to federal power.

According to the statement, the convention reflects the coalition’s continued commitment to institutional strengthening, implementation of reform policies and advancing the broader aspirations of the MADANI Government.

The statement was jointly issued by KEADILAN information chief Fahmi Fadzil, AMANAH vice-president Adly Zahari and DAP national vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan. - May 8, 2026
