MUSLIMS across Malaysia will celebrate Aidiladha on May 27 after the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal formally announced that 1 Zulhijah 1447H falls on Monday, May 18.

The declaration was delivered by Acting Assistant Secretary of the Conference of Rulers Muhammad Affendi Jalaludin during a nationwide broadcast aired on Radio Televisyen Malaysia on Sunday night.

The announcement followed consent from the Malay Rulers and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in accordance with established Islamic calendar procedures observed in Malaysia.

“In fulfilment of the command of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and with the consent of Their Royal Highnesses the Malay Rulers, I, on behalf of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal of Malaysia, hereby declare that 1 Zulhijah 1447H falls on 18 May 2026.

“Accordingly, Aidiladha on the 10th of Zulhijah for all states throughout Malaysia is fixed on Wednesday, 27 May 2026,” he said.

Aidiladha, also known as Hari Raya Haji, is among the most significant observances in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.

The celebration is marked by special prayers and the ritual sacrificial offering of livestock, with meat distributed to the needy and local communities. - May 18, 2026
