THE suspect who was arrested by the police for stabbing a woman in the neck in a Mazda 3 car in front of a restaurant in Titi Gajah, Kepala Batas, has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist in the investigation.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Noor Shifa Mohd Hamzah at the Alor Setar Court lockup, and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

Earlier, the 32-year-old suspect arrived at the court lockup at 8.20 am in a police vehicle, wearing an orange lockup shirt and was remanded until May 24 to assist in the investigation .

Meanwhile, Kota Setar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Syed Basri Syed Ali said the suspect was arrested in the mosque area in Taman Uda, Sultanah Bahiyah Highway, at 1.50 am this morning.

He said the suspect was arrested about five hours after the incident at 9.19 pm yesterday.

It was earlier reported that a woman was stabbed in the right side of the neck by a man she knew in front of a restaurant in Jalan Titi Gajah, Kepala Batas, last night.

The incident is believed to have occurred at 9.19 pm, and the victim is a 35-year-old woman. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

The victim was sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) due to a serious injury to the right neck, and the police are currently tracing the weapon used in the incident. – May 18, 2026
