PARTI Bersama Malaysia will open applications for individuals interested in becoming the party's candidates in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, this Monday.

Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said the party had completed negotiations with several local leaders in Johor, while discussions in Negeri Sembilan are scheduled to begin next week.

"We are matching the initial list of target seats with their views and assessments of the local political situation," he said.

Rafizi says Bersama will announce the seats to be contested in Johor and Negeri Sembilan by nomination day.

Commenting on whether the month-old party has enough time to prepare for the election, he said all candidate applications received will go through a comprehensive interview and assessment process.

He said the process aims to ensure that selected candidates not only have qualifications on paper, but are also capable of carrying out their responsibilities and are effective in reaching out to the people at the grassroots level.

"This assessment process will also help potential candidates understand the challenges they may face if they are selected to contest," he said.

Rafizi said the successful candidate was also required to sign several pledge documents and penalty agreements as part of the party's nomination conditions.

Meanwhile, he explained that the Bersama leadership structure would only be announced after the party successfully won seats in the election. – June 6, 2026
