PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has renewed his administration’s pledge to intensify the fight against corruption, declaring that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will continue to be strengthened as an independent and respected institution tasked with rooting out graft without compromise.
The commitment comes as the government places greater emphasis on governance reforms, transparency and institutional strengthening as central components of its broader national transformation agenda.
Anwar reiterated the government's position during a courtesy meeting with MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman in Putrajaya on Thursday, where discussions focused on integrity, public accountability and efforts to reinforce confidence in national institutions.
The Prime Minister stressed that strengthening governance and institutional reform remains a fundamental priority of the MADANI administration, describing integrity as a critical foundation for Malaysia’s future development and competitiveness.
"I emphasised the importance of strengthening governance, integrity and the national institutional reform agenda, which form the foundation for building a Malaysia that is more just, transparent and competitive," Anwar said.
He argued that integrity extends far beyond administrative compliance and must serve as a guiding principle across all levels of government and public service.
"I stress that integrity is not merely a requirement in the public service, but an essential foundation for ensuring public confidence, attracting quality investments and determining a more sustainable future for the nation."
Anwar further pledged that the government would continue empowering the MACC to carry out its responsibilities effectively and independently as part of a broader effort to eradicate corruption and safeguard national prosperity.
"The MADANI Government will continue to strengthen the MACC as a credible and respected institution in the effort to combat corruption without compromise, ensuring that the nation's prosperity can be enjoyed by present and future generations," he said in a Facebook post.
The statement underscores the government's continued focus on institutional reform and anti-corruption measures as it seeks to enhance investor confidence, improve public sector accountability and reinforce trust in Malaysia's governance framework.
