POLICE are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a woman was discovered inside a suitcase in a residential unit at Taman Impian Indah, in Kajang, following a report made by the property owner who went to check on his tenants after failing to reach them.
The landlord, who requested anonymity, said he had repeatedly tried to contact the female tenant but received no response, prompting him to visit the property himself.
“I contacted the female tenant several times, but failed, so I went to the house to check. When I entered, I smelled a foul odour and found the house was dirty, and then I discovered a suitcase containing the woman’s body,” he said.
He said the tenant, believed to be a Nepalese woman, had moved into the unit about three months ago and had been living there with a male companion.
“After failing to reach her several times, I went to check the rented unit yesterday afternoon. The house was filthy, with sewage stains and a strong smell. There was a large cardboard box in the corner of the living room filled with clothes and fabric, and sewage was leaking from it,” he said.
He added that upon closer inspection, he found a heavy suitcase inside the box.
“I saw that the suitcase was swollen and difficult to open. Out of fear, I contacted the police for assistance,” he said.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed that police received a report at about 8.37pm regarding the discovery of an unidentified body at the premises.
He said forensic teams from the Royal Malaysia Police were deployed to the scene, where they found the body of a woman inside a suitcase in the living room.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
Police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact Senior Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Nur Ayuni Aziz at 016-2080717 or the NG MERS 999 emergency line to assist with investigations. - June 29, 2026
