A MOTORCYLIST was killed after his vehicle skidded and plunged into a deep ravine along the ASPA Cottage flyover area in Kuantan on Friday evening.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Zahidan Nor from Kampung Cherating, was confirmed dead at the scene.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said emergency services received an alert at 7.18pm before deploying 13 personnel, including the station chief from the Gebeng Fire and Rescue Station.

A Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) unit and a rescue van were also dispatched to the location.

“Upon arrival, we found that the accident involved a motorcycle with the victim having fallen into a ravine approximately 20 metres deep.

“The fire and rescue team then carried out a High Rope Rescue operation, with two personnel lowered into the ravine to retrieve the victim using a stretcher,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the victim was found unconscious with injuries to his arms and legs.

“However, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene before his remains were handed over to the police for further action,” he added. - July 4, 2026
