TWO Indonesian women were killed after an SUV they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a surau at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Jawa 2 earlier this morning.

The incident occurred at about 6.34am, with both victims — believed to be aged in their 30s and 50s — dying at the scene.

Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station chief Azhar Elmi Mustofar said emergency services received a distress call reporting a vehicle accident involving trapped victims.

“Upon arrival at the scene, we found that a Honda CR-V carrying six Indonesian nationals, including one man, had been involved in the crash,” he said when contacted.

He said two women were confirmed dead, while four other occupants sustained injuries. All six individuals were believed to be related.

Rescue operations were carried out at the scene, with the injured victims receiving initial treatment before being transported for further medical attention. - July 5, 2026
