POLICE received 90 reports throughout the Johor State Election (PRN) campaign period, said Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
From that, he said 25 investigation papers were opened involving various election-related offences.
He said most of the cases being investigated involved minor offences and did not affect the overall democratic process in the state.
“Among the cases recorded were acts of mischief such as removing, damaging and burning political party flags, as well as several other cases being investigated under the Penal Code, Communications and Multimedia Act and the Election Offences Act.
“So far, we have received 90 police reports throughout the campaign period until yesterday and have opened 25 investigation papers.
“Most of them involve minor matters that I believe will not cause anxiety or tension among voters and election officials,” he told a press conference after inspecting the voting process at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Taman Molek, today.
Mohd Khalid said investigations into all cases were still ongoing to track the individuals involved before further action was taken.
Meanwhile, he announced that 14,000 PDRM officers and personnel were mobilised to control security and the smooth running of the voting process in all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats being contested.
Voter turnout till noon
Meanwhile, the voter turnout has reached 34.78 per cent, as of noon today.
The Election Commission (EC) announced that 933,115 out of 2,682,642 registered voters have fulfilled their responsibilities.
Tanjung Surat DUN recorded the highest voter turnout of 45.4 per cent, followed by Semarang (45.2 per cent) and Sedili (41.9 per cent).
Simpang Jeram DUN recorded the lowest voter turnout of 28.2 per cent, followed by Bentayan (25.8 per cent) and Penggaram (25.4 per cent).
For comparison, in the 2022 Johor general election, the voter turnout as 12 noon was 28.41 per cent, involving 731,610 out of 2,574,835 registered voters. – July 11, 2026
