DAP has set its sights on defending all 11 Negeri Sembilan state assembly seats under its control while helping Pakatan Harapan (PH) expand its representation in the August 1 state election.
Negeri Sembilan DAP secretary Cha Kee Chin said the party remained focused on consolidating public support by building on its record of governance and service delivery.
"We cannot afford to be complacent. Instead, we must continue working hard to maintain a convincing victory," he said.
Cha, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rasah, said DAP would work closely with its PH partners to maximise the coalition's chances of securing victory across the state.
Beyond defending its existing seats, he said DAP hoped to help PH wrest the Paroi and Labu state constituencies from Perikatan Nasional (PN), which won both seats in the previous election.
"Paroi is the largest state constituency in Negeri Sembilan by number of voters. It is expected to be contested by an AMANAH candidate under the PH banner, while Labu will be contested by PKR.
"We need to win Paroi and Labu. Believe me, if we succeed, PH will be able to form the state government on the night of August 1," he said.
Cha urged the party's machinery to remain united and committed throughout the campaign to ensure PH candidates emerged victorious in every constituency they contested.
"PH must retain victory in the Negeri Sembilan state election to continue the state's development agenda and ensure programmes that benefit the people can be sustained," he said.
In the previous state election, PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) formed the Negeri Sembilan government after securing a combined 31 of the 36 state seats, with PH winning 17 seats and BN 14, while PN captured five.
However, unlike the previous election, PH and BN are contesting the 2026 Negeri Sembilan election separately, with both coalitions announcing plans to field candidates in all 36 state constituencies. - July 11, 2026
