Barisan Nasional pledges to govern all Johore Ans regardless of race, religion, background or political affiliation after its sweeping victory in the 16th Johor State Election - July 12, 2026

BARISAN Nasional (BN) has pledged to remain a government for all Johoreans following its decisive victory in the 16th Johor State Election, promising to continue a moderate, stable and inclusive approach to governance.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said BN would continue prioritising political stability, maturity and inclusiveness while ensuring that the mandate given by voters was translated into effective service.

"To all BN candidates who have been elected, this victory is not the end of the struggle but the beginning of a greater responsibility.

"Serve with humility, stay close to the people and work tirelessly to ensure Johor continues to progress, prosper and achieve greater success," he said in a statement.

Zambry, who is also an UMNO Supreme Council member, described BN's victory as more than a political success, saying it represented a major trust from voters seeking a stable, credible government capable of continuing Johor's development agenda.

He credited BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the coalition's component parties and Friends of BN for strengthening the party's machinery and presenting voters with a platform centred on stability, moderation and practical solutions.

Zambry also praised Johor BN chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, saying the state government's performance, people-oriented leadership and clear development direction had helped secure public confidence.

"The record of an excellent state administration, leadership that remains close to the people and a clear direction for Johor's development became important foundations for the people's confidence in continuing to give their mandate to BN," he said.

Meanwhile, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reminded BN that the victory came with a greater responsibility to serve the public and warned against becoming complacent.

"Thank you to all Bangsa Johor for the mandate and trust given. Insya-Allah, BN will continue to prove that every trust given will be repaid with hard work, sincere service and unwavering commitment to the people.

"In this victory, we must remain more humble. With the mandate given, we must work harder and more diligently for the people. There is no time to boast, let alone feel comfortable. This victory is a great responsibility that must be carried and fulfilled in the best possible way," he said.

Asyraf Wajdi also praised the efforts of BN's election machinery, including UMNO's Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings, division and branch-level teams, volunteers and supporters who worked throughout the campaign.

"I personally witnessed the dedication and sacrifices of our friends on the ground. They endured heat and rain, sacrificed time with their families, and put aside fatigue, all with one determination — to ensure stability was maintained and Johor's progress could continue," he said.

He also thanked Zahid for his leadership throughout the election campaign and praised Onn Hafiz for advancing Johor's development agenda and engaging with the people.

"Thank you to all BN machinery, including those who stayed in Johor and those who came from across the country, to ensure this meaningful victory for BN in the Johor State Election. You are the heroes and heroines behind this victory," he said.

BN secured a landslide victory in the 16th Johor State Election, winning 48 of the 56 state assembly seats contested, while Pakatan Harapan captured the remaining eight seats. - July 12, 2026
