PAKATAN Harapan (PH) admitted that the decline in Malay voter support was among the factors that contributed to the coalition's defeat in the Johor State Election (PRN).

Its Election Director, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said that the Johor PRN findings revealed that the coalition still had strong support among non-Malay voters, but was facing a decline in support from Malay voters.

"In addition, among the factors (for PH's defeat) identified was the popularity of the Johor Menteri Besar as well as several other factors that influenced voting patterns," he said.

Amirudin explained that following the findings, PH would streamline its campaign approach by focusing more on reaching out to young voters ahead of the Negeri Sembilan PRN.

He said that based on the data from each channel's insights, there is still room to increase support among the voter group in question.

"Tonight, I will hold a meeting at the PH level to formulate a more organised strategy for the Negeri Sembilan PRN, in addition to making preparations for other elections after this," he said.

He explained that the campaign approach in Negeri Sembilan will also be adapted to the state's political landscape since PH is a different governing government from Johor where the coalition is contesting as the opposition.

"Some changes in approach will be implemented according to the suitability of the locality and background of the candidates so that the work is more organised and the message can be conveyed more effectively to the people.

"I believe we are still on the right and strong track to defend Negeri Sembilan.

"I will work closely with the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to ensure that all preparations for the PRN run smoothly," he added. – July 15, 2026
