POLICE have confirmed that security and public order remain under control throughout the Negeri Sembilan state election, with only one election-related report received so far.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the report lodged yesterday involved a verbal dispute between supporters of political parties, but no investigation paper had been opened as the incident did not constitute an election offence.
"From the enforcement aspect, one police report was received yesterday and no investigation paper related to election offences has been opened.
"The report involved a verbal dispute between party supporters," he said in a statement today.
Alzafny said police had approved all 19 applications submitted for political talks and campaign activities after organisers fulfilled the required conditions.
"Of that number, all 19 applications were approved after meeting the stipulated requirements.
"All political programmes and activities held will be monitored by the police to ensure their organisation complies with the law and does not affect public safety and order," he said.
He added that the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent would continue enhancing its preparedness, monitoring and enforcement measures throughout the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election.
"Any violation of the law will be dealt with firmly, fairly and with integrity without compromise.
"Members of the public are urged to continue complying with the law, respect the democratic process and provide full cooperation to police personnel on the ground to ensure the Negeri Sembilan state election takes place in a peaceful, harmonious, safe and orderly environment," he said.
Alzafny also issued a reminder to social media users against uploading, sharing or spreading content that could provoke hatred, hostility or tensions involving race, religion, the royal institution or any parties participating in the election process.
"We will not compromise against any individual who is found to have committed such offences.
"Firm action will be taken in accordance with existing legal provisions, including the Penal Code, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588], the Sedition Act 1948 and any other relevant laws," he said.
He urged the public to verify information through reliable sources, avoid being influenced by provocations and work together to preserve peace, public order and national harmony.
"This is to ensure that the election process takes place in a peaceful and harmonious environment while adhering to the rule of law," he said. - July 19, 2026
