THE body of a Malaysian man who died after allegedly being stabbed in a group brawl involving foreigners in South Korea will be brought back to Malaysia after the completion of necessary documentation procedures.
The victim, identified as Ahmad Shah, 26, had completed a post-mortem examination, with his family currently working on the required documentation in Eumseong District, North Chungcheong Province, before the remains can be repatriated.
The victim’s younger sister, Ain Sephia, 25, told BH she was informed by her sister-in-law that the post-mortem process on her brother’s body had been completed.
She said several administrative procedures still needed to be finalised with the Malaysian Embassy in South Korea before arrangements could be made for the repatriation.
“So far, we have submitted all the required documents. Once all procedures are completed, the body will then be arranged for return to Malaysia.
“There is no further information yet on when the body is expected to arrive as several procedures still need to be completed,” she said when contacted today.
Earlier, Ahmad Shah was reported to have died after allegedly being stabbed during a group fight in South Korea.
His family was informed of the incident at about 2.40am after his wife, Nurcahaya Ruslan, contacted them and told them that Ahmad Shah had passed away.
Meanwhile, South Korean media outlet JoongAng Daily reported that police from the Eumseong Police Station had detained a Malaysian man in his 40s to assist investigations into the incident.
The suspect is believed to be investigated for murder and other offences after allegedly stabbing the victim, who was in his 20s, with a knife.
The incident was reported to have occurred at about 3am on a road in Daeso-eup, Eumseong District.
Initial investigations found that two groups, each involving the suspect and the victim, were involved in a major altercation at the location.
About 10 individuals were believed to have taken part in the fight before the suspect allegedly produced a knife and attacked the victim. - July 27, 2026
