FORMER Subang MP Wong Chen has joined Bersama, as the party unveiled its first batch of seven spokespersons while expanding its leadership line-up ahead of its next phase of growth.
Bersama said Wong submitted his membership application online, and it would be processed in accordance with the party’s membership procedures.
The former lawmaker, who has served as Subang MP since 2013, will oversee the preparation of the party’s policy papers, which will be published under the “Kertas Kancil” series.
The series, expected to be launched ahead of Merdeka Day 2026, will focus on Bersama’s 12 key agendas, with each paper outlining the party’s proposed policies, legislation and programmes.
Bersama said the papers would be open for public discussion, with details on consultations and forums to be announced later.
The party said the appointments marked the next stage of its development following its relaunch nearly three months ago, as it seeks to build a wider leadership structure.
The seven appointed spokespersons are economist Sum Dek Joe, former media personality Ibrahim Sani, accountant Wan Zulaika Abdul Kahar, engineer Jhen Pei Seah, Subang Jaya city councillor Anbarasan Murugesu, media personality Tang Hong Yau and lawyer Rabiatul Adawiyah Sulaiman.
Sum, who previously worked with the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office and the Asian Development Bank, will assist in the preparation of the Kertas Kancil papers.
Ibrahim, who began his career in corporate banking before moving into media with Astro Awani and BFM, previously served as chief executive officer of Yayasan Peneraju.
Wan Zulaika has worked with several major organisations, including KPMG, Petronas and Sime Darby, while Jhen has been involved in major infrastructure projects, including the KVMRT Line 2 and West Coast Expressway.
Anbarasan served as a Subang Jaya City Council member from 2015 to 2026 and was its chief whip between 2020 and 2026.
Tang, a law graduate from Universiti Malaya, previously worked as a multimedia journalist with 8TV and BFM before moving into Mandarin-language media and education.
Rabiatul, a law graduate from UiTM and partner at a legal firm, has been involved in youth and women’s community activities.
Bersama said it would continue announcing further appointments involving spokespersons, potential candidates and party organisers as it prepares for amendments to its constitution and a future party election. - August 12, 2026
