A VIOLENT street brawl in Taman Alam Megah in Shah Alam escalated into a machete attack before one of the men involved was struck and killed by a car, with police detaining an Indian national to assist in the murder investigation.
The incident took place at about 2pm on Tuesday along Jalan Mandolin 33/5, Taman Alam Megah.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said police received information about the incident after a member of the public reported a fight at the location.
“An examination of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed a group of men involved in a fight before a machete attack took place between them.
“A blue Perodua Alza was also seen striking one of the suspects, causing the man to die at the scene,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Following the incident, the case was referred to the Shah Alam district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department operations team, which launched efforts to identify and locate those involved.
“Following action by the team, an Indian national was successfully detained to assist with the investigation,” Sarudin said.
The arrest came after the investigating team conducted an operation to track down those involved in the incident.
The case had earlier drawn widespread attention on social media after dashcam footage showed several individuals running at the scene, while two others were seen lying on the road.
Sarudin said the Shah Alam district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Division had opened an investigation paper and the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident or the identities of those involved.
