IPOH – Repair work of Jalan Chikus in Hilir Perak that links Chikus town and Jalan Attaduri to Teluk Intan, which was damaged following a cave-in last Monday, will take three months, said Perak Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun.

He said the repairs will cost RM2.2 million and during the period, motorists are advised to use alternative roads to Teluk Intan.

The alternative roads are Jalan Teluk Dalam-Teluk Gedung, Jalan Changkat Jong-Kampar, Jalan Sg Lampam-Sg Tunku, Jalan Sg Manik Labu Kubong Chenderong Balai and Jalan Attaduri,” he told a media conference today.

In another development, he said the Perak state executive council during its meeting today has decided to temporarily halt all recreational activities in the highland and interior areas for public safety following several incidence of landslides, including along the East-West Highway in Gerik today.

On the issue of the bad condition of Jalan Kg Redang Sawa in Kampar to Kg Pisang in Batu Gajah, Zolkafly said an allocation of RM80 million has been set aside for the project.

The Perak Public Works Department will call for the tender for the project next month and work on the project is expected to take 36 months, he added.

On the Jambatan Stesen Bas Tg Malim, which links Tg Malim to Hulu Bernam in Selangor, he said the bridge is safe for use. – Bernama, January 6, 2021
