KUANTAN – The body of a Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) student, who has been missing for three days, was found in Sg Puas, Kg Gintong in Jerantut, about 100km from here today.

Jerantut district police chief Mazlan Hassan said Ukai Iskandar Zulkarnain, 23, who was swept away by the floods with his father Zulkarnain Hitam, 58, was discovered by the public this morning, 5m from the location he was last spotted.

“The body was identified by his family members before being brought to Jerantut Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement today.

On Sunday, Ukai Iskandar and his father were washed away by strong currents while wading through floodwaters with his two siblings to return home at Kg Gintong at 10.30pm after leaving their car on higher ground.

Zulkarnain, who was a Jerantut district forestry department employee, was found drowned on the same day while his two children aged 13 and 15 were rescued by members of the public. – Bernama, January 6, 2021
