Manager remanded over alleged RM200m tax reduction scheme involving 480 company accounts
Investigators probe an alleged bribe to an enforcement agency officer - October 1, 2026

A COMPANY manager has been remanded for three days over allegations of using falsified documents to manipulate about 480 company accounts in a scheme to obtain tax reductions totalling nearly RM200 million.

The man, in his 40s, was ordered to be remanded until Oct 3 by Magistrate Illya Syaheedah Mohd Razif at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court today, following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The suspect is also alleged to have bribed an officer from an enforcement agency in connection with the scheme, which is believed to have been carried out between 2018 and 2026.

He was detained at about 7pm yesterday after appearing at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have his statement recorded.

Preliminary investigations found that the suspect allegedly submitted documents containing false particulars to obtain the tax reductions, with the activities believed to have been carried out to accumulate wealth.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, when contacted, confirmed the arrest.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009. -  October 1, 2026
