THE Ministry of Education (MOE) continues to receive the largest allocation, securing nearly RM69 billion in the 2027 Budget.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim noted that the MOE received RM66.2 billion this year, marking an increase for the coming year.

Furthermore, he stated that the government has agreed to raise the allocation for the repair and maintenance of all types of schools from RM1 billion to RM2 billion.

“The allocation for National Schools (SK) has risen to RM900 million, while the allocation for Chinese National-Type Schools (SJKC) has increased to RM100 million.

“The allocation for Tamil National-Type Schools (SJKT) has risen to RM50 million; although the student population in SJKTs is relatively smaller, the dilapidated state of their infrastructure demands immediate attention,” he said during the 2027 Budget presentation in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar added that the allocation for Sekolah Agama Rakyat (community religious schools), tahfiz institutions, and pondok schools registered under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has been increased to RM200 million. – October 8, 2026
