TAXI, rental car and school bus drivers will receive a one-off RM1,000 financial assistance next week, funded by proceeds from the sale of special H-series number plates.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the assistance would benefit 38,000 taxi and rental car drivers and 15,000 school bus drivers nationwide.
Tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, Anwar said proceeds from the number plate sales had also funded other public assistance initiatives, including RM500 in flight assistance for students, free B2 motorcycle licence tests for underprivileged youths and the distribution of free helmets.
“When governance is improved, the gains from reform can be channelled towards the well-being of the people,” he said.
Anwar said the government would also strengthen transparency by disclosing details of public projects, including the contractors involved and contract values, following the enforcement of the Government Procurement Act next year.
Separately, RM1.1 billion has been allocated to enforcement agencies, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Domestic Trade Ministry, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Malaysia Competition Commission, to step up enforcement operations. – October 9, 2026
