No tsunami threat to Malaysia - October 10, 2026

A 6.4-MAGNITUDE earthquake struck Panama early today, but there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said.

The department said the earthquake occurred at 4.25am Malaysian time at a depth of 30km.

Its epicentre was located at 7.6 degrees north and 81.5 degrees west, about 1,396km north of Sullana, Peru.

MetMalaysia confirmed that the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - October 10, 2026
