PN faces deregistration after RoS rejects its appeal to retain status
RoS decision implementation status remains to be clarified - October 20, 2026

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has suffered a major setback after the Registrar of Societies (RoS) cancelled its registration, rejecting the coalition’s explanation as insufficient to justify retaining its status as a registered organisation.

The Registrar of Societies said the decision followed a review of PN’s response, received on Oct 12, to a notice issued on Sept 22 under the Societies Act 1966.

“After examining all the documents and explanations submitted, the Registrar of Societies found that the reasons provided failed to refute the grounds for deregistration stated in the notice.

“(PN also) failed to provide strong justification for retaining the organisation’s registration,” it said in a statement today.

The notice was issued under subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), which allowed PN to submit an explanation and representations on the matters raised.

RoS said all registered organisations must comply with the Act and their respective constitutions, adding that it would continue to enforce the law firmly and fairly.

“RoS will continue to carry out its regulatory and enforcement functions firmly, fairly and in accordance with the law to ensure the orderly, transparent and integrity-driven governance of organisations,” it said.

The announcement did not specify when the deregistration would take effect or detail its immediate implications for PN’s operations. - October 20, 2026
