PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on political parties to put national interests above partisan differences, following Bersatu's agreement to support the Federal Government's Supply Bill 2027.
He said the Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) signed between Bersatu and the government would provide a basis for greater political stability, continuity in governance and the effective implementation of Budget 2027.
Anwar said political differences should not stand in the way of efforts to build a better future for Malaysia, adding that political maturity required parties to prioritise the country's interests over narrow political considerations.
"This ensures that Malaysia remains peaceful, stable and progressive while safeguarding the well-being of the people," he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
He expressed hope that the agreement would encourage constructive cooperation, strengthen confidence in the democratic process and support the country's development agenda.
In a separate parliamentary development, Anwar confirmed that investigations into KWAP's RM163.4 million investment in Indonesian aquaculture technology company eFishery were ongoing.
In a written reply to Sabak Bernam MP Kalam Salan, who questioned the due diligence and investment approval process, Anwar said the investigation had yet to uncover evidence of criminal wrongdoing involving corruption or misappropriation, according to media reports in August.
He said KWAP had cooperated with the relevant authorities and an investor consortium to take appropriate action against those responsible, while efforts to recover the investment remained ongoing.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said KWAP had reviewed its investment assessment, approval and monitoring processes following revelations of financial manipulation and misrepresentation at eFishery.
The findings were presented to the KWAP Board for scrutiny, with follow-up measures taken under its governance and accountability framework.
He said the investment had undergone established assessment and governance procedures, including verification by a qualified international auditor based on information available at the time.
"Several major global institutional investors were also affected by the misconduct," he said.
KWAP's investment amounted to RM163.4 million for a 2.51 per cent equity stake in eFishery.
Meanwhile, Anwar said differences in policy positions between ministries did not necessarily reflect divisions within the government.
Responding to Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut), who questioned conflicting public positions taken by the Finance Ministry and Rural and Regional Development Ministry, Anwar said such differences were part of the policy deliberation process.
He said matters requiring collective decisions would be referred to the Cabinet for consideration and agreement, in keeping with the principle of collective Cabinet responsibility. - October 30, 2026
