A TOTAL of 189 nomination forms had been purchased by prospective candidates for the Melaka state election as of Thursday night, with 45 of them having paid the deposit to confirm participation in the election.

Election Commission (EC) Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun reminded all prospective candidates to arrive early at the nomination centres tomorrow, to allow for a thorough review of their documents.

This step is crucial to avoid any issues that could jeopardise their eligibility to contest.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to urge supporters who will be present tomorrow to comply with the instructions of the authorities.

“We have established appropriate regulations to ensure there are no disruptions, thereby allowing the nomination process to proceed peacefully and in an orderly manner,” he told reporters after observing a simulation of the nomination process for the Melaka state election at the Paya Rumput nomination centre.

The public is also reminded to be aware of any road closures to facilitate the candidate nomination process. – October 30, 2026
