PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have agreed on the distribution of seats for the Melaka state election next month, with further agreements between the two coalitions expected to follow.
PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the allocation had been settled through discussions between the two sides, with all parties in PN accepting the arrangement.
“There are no issues over the seat allocation. All parties have agreed to the distribution.
“There will be several understandings and agreements between PN and BN,” he told reporters when contacted today.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had earlier confirmed that negotiations with PAS for the state election had been concluded.
Under the arrangement, BN will contest 21 of the 28 state seats, while PAS and its allies will contest the remaining seven.
Ahmad Zahid also said support for PN in Melaka had been encouraging, expressing hope that it would hold until polling day. - October 27, 2026
