THE husband of a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer found dead at government quarters in Nilai on Oct 15 was charged with her murder at the Magistrate’s Court in Seremban today.
Mohd Khairudin Safi’ai, 39, did not enter a plea as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. He nodded to indicate that he understood the charge read out before Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli.
He was accused of murdering his wife, Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, at their home in Cluster 6 of the KLIA Public Servants’ Housing Complex in Nilai at about 7pm on Oct 15.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years. If the death penalty is not imposed, a convicted person is also liable to receive at least 12 strokes of the cane.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sarip handled the prosecution.
The court fixed Dec 22 for the next mention, pending the submission of the post-mortem report.
The victim’s eldest brother, Amran Ibrahim, 59, was present during the proceedings.
Norhazwani was found dead at the quarters before her husband surrendered at the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi police station in Sepang, Selangor, to assist in the investigation.

A post-mortem found that she died from pressure on her neck and had also sustained stab wounds to the side of her abdomen and cheek.
The incident was believed to have stemmed from marital discord after Norhazwani reportedly expressed her intention to seek a divorce.
The couple had been married for seven years and had two children, aged six and five.
Police checks had also found that Mohd Khairudin had 16 previous criminal records, including 10 related to narcotics and six involving housebreaking, theft and possession of stolen property. - October 26, 2026
