TWO women journalists were injured after the car they were travelling in was believed to have been hit from behind by a lorry at a traffic light junction near Taman Kledang Permai in Ipoh at about 5.45am today.

The journalists were on their way to Bagan Datuk to cover a programme involving Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi when the accident occurred.

The car was reportedly stationary at the junction while waiting for the traffic light to turn green when the lorry struck it from behind, causing the vehicle to spin.

Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah confirmed the incident when contacted, saying further investigations were underway.

In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid expressed sadness over the accident involving the two media practitioners from Bernama and the New Straits Times.

He said both journalists were receiving medical treatment, with one still at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB).

“I pray that Dina and Zahra’s treatment will go smoothly and that they will be granted a full recovery,” he said.

“Let us pray together that both recover soon and regain their health.” - October 25, 2026
