KOTA KINABALU – Food delivery companies in Sabah are facing daunting challenges in getting their food deliveries to customers, especially with many roads flooded due to heavy rains.
Morefun, a local food delivery app is one such delivery company in Sabah that is faced with this hurdle.
Its co-founder Jaclyn Yau said their services to some areas were interrupted as roads were flooded, leaving them impassable to both cars and motorcycles.
“There is still heavy rain at the moment as well and all we can do is to wait until it subsides before we can continue our deliveries,” she told The Vibes.
“We hope customers understand and are able to tolerate any late delivery that happens due to terrible weather and flooded roads.”
Yau said they will still keep the system operational and inform customers if there is any delay or if they are unable to send food to an affected location.
The Vibes has reached out to other food delivery companies but has yet to get a reply.
Several districts in the west coast of the state are affected by flooding this weekend following heavy rains, with the Malaysian Meteorological Department issuing a bad weather warning on the west coast and interior of Sabah, which includes Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau, and Tambunan.
The situation is expected to continue until Monday in Kudat, Telupid, Beluran, and Sandakan. – The Vibes, January 17, 2021
