TONGOD – The search to locate a missing 66-year-old local man here ended today after three days when his dead body was found floating in the Kinabatangan river here at 9.10am.

A Tongod Civil Defence Force spokesman said body of Josman Lutiam was spotted by a villager.

On Saturday about 7am, the victim had gone to the Milan River near Kg Penangah to check on the condition of his boat as the river's water level was rising, after which he went missing.

His wife then went to the river to look for him, but found only the boat’s engine and the victim’s clothes near the jetty.

Minutes later, villagers found the victim’s boat, which had capsized and was empty.

The SAR operation was activated the same day, with the Civil Defence Force, police, Fire and Rescue Department and local villagers joining forces.
