PUTRAJAYA – Two business premises in Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur, have been found providing accommodation for foreign workers they employed without accommodation certificates.

The Human Resources Ministry informed that in the operation carried out by the Covid-19 Health Screening Programme Special Task Force on Monday, it was also found that the employers have not made any application to obtain the accommodation certificates.

Besides that, the ministry in a statement today said the two premises involved were detected committing several other offences under Act 446, such as having overcrowded spaces and poor ventilation.

“An investigation has been opened to enable legal action to be taken against the owners of the two premises,” according to the statement.

The task force, which comprises the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia, Social Security Organisation and Department of Occupational Health and Safety, was established by the ministry.

The operation on Monday was also jointly carried out by the Health Ministry and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry. – Bernama, January 20, 2021
