MIRI – All 82 assemblymen and 31 MPs in Sarawak have been listed as frontliners and will be given the Covid-19 vaccination in the first phase of the immunisation programme.

The Sarawak assembly has issued a written notice to all elected representatives telling them to prepare themselves for the vaccine.

Assemblymen confirmed to The Vibes that they have received the notification for the vaccine.

Among them is Tg Batu assemblyman Chiew Ching Sing, a seven-term rep from DAP, who said he received the notice this morning.

“State assembly secretary Pele Peter Tinggom has issued a notice to all the elected representatives. It said that all elected state assembly representatives and MPs in Sarawak have been classified as frontliners.

“We will be given the Covid-19 vaccination under Phase 1 of the immunisation programme in Sarawak.

“State Health Department officials will call us soon to arrange for the date and time of the jab.”

Chiew said the state secretary announced that the injection for those in southern and central Sarawak will take place from Saturday to March 4.

Those from northern Sarawak – Bintulu, Miri and Limbang – will get their jabs from March 5 to 11, he added.

The Health Department has identified 55 locations across the state for people to get their jabs.

Other frontliners in Phase 1 are health and medical personnel, police and army personnel, Rela members, Fire and Rescue Department members and members of other security enforcement agencies.

Phase 2 of the vaccination will be for high-risk groups and Phase 3 is for the general public aged 18 and above. – The Vibes, February 25, 2021
