GEORGE TOWN – Some 13 motorcycles parked in Block B of the Pinang Emas flats in Batu Ferringhi here were damaged in a fire early this morning.

Firefighters, who received an incident report at 3.26am, mobilised their team from the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Department station to the residential area.

A Penang fire brigade spokesman said by the time the team arrived, the fire had been put out by the public.

“The fire brigade in full PPE ensured the fire was completely extinguished.”

The spokesman said the fire destroyed seven motorcycles, partially burnt six motorcycles and slightly damaged a car.

He said the operation ended at 4.45am.

“Nobody was hurt and the authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.” – The Vibes, March 6, 2021
