MIRI – Sarawak police have uncovered drugs worth more than RM1 million destined for a neighbouring country.
State police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the latest bust, part of the force’s stepped-up narcotics operations, took place along Serian-Tebedu district in southern Sarawak.
The suspects – a man and a woman, aged 35 and 38, respectively – were arrested at a roadblock.
“They were found with 14,880 Ecstasy pills and syabu,” he told reporters in Kuching.
The duo said they were paid to deliver the drugs to Tebedu, bordering Indonesia’s Kalimantan.
Both have been remanded, with investigations being conducted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death sentence.
On Saturday night, a police raid on an entertainment centre here, namely the Centrepoint Commercial Centre, saw 3kg of drugs, stored in packets and bottles hidden in the building, seized.
Two suspects, also a man and a woman, were arrested for investigations under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act. – The Vibes, March 8, 2021
