MIRI – Although Sarawak saw a drop in fresh Covid-19 cases from 251 to 183 today, the state registered another three deaths and three clusters.

The new fatalities take its death toll to 94.

All three deaths were recorded at Sibu Hospital, involving men aged 69, 72 and 84, said the state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in Kuching.

Sibu district recorded the highest new infections at 73, followed by Miri (22), Julau (21), Bintulu and Kapit (17 each), Kuching (12) and other districts (fewer than 10).

There are 31 active clusters in the state, including the three new ones.

The Jalan Kg Hilir cluster in Sibu has 35 cases out of 41 individuals screened. The Nanga Bulo cluster in Julau registered 34 cases after 160 were screened, while the Jalan Sanyan cluster, involving supermarket workers in Sibu, saw all 19 screened testing positive.

Sibu Hospital has 714 coronavirus patients under its care, followed by Miri Hospital (431), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (273), Bintulu Hospital (327), Kapit Hospital (206), Betong Hospital (177), Sarikei Hospital (151), Mukah Hospital (18), Limbang Hospital (3) and Sri Aman Hospital (18). – The Vibes, March 16, 2021
